Life doesn’t always go as planned. Sometimes, the path you thought you were destined for takes unexpected turns, forcing you to start over. That’s exactly what happened to me. Hi! My name is Sam Morrison, and my journey has been one of perseverance, reinvention, and ultimately, success on my own terms.
As a 1996 graduate who tried multiple different paths I eventually found a position as Chief Operating Officer for a construction company. For years, I worked tirelessly to build and maintain the company, facing challenges that tested my leadership and resilience. But despite my best efforts, the business struggled during the recession and we had to part ways. I had lost everything I had worked for and with the entire industry struggling failed to find my way.
With a wife and two kids to support, I had no choice but to start over from scratch. I took a construction job earning $16 an hour—a humbling experience, but one that reinforced my work ethic and determination. Knowing the track I was on was not leading to where I wanted to be. I decided to invest in myself, by completing a five-year Local 100 Sheet Metal Workers apprenticeship in 2015, a decision that would open doors for my career.
That same year, tragedy struck. I lost my wife—the mother of my two children—to leukemia. The grief was overwhelming, but I knew I had to keep moving forward for my kids. Through hard work and perseverance, I climbed the ranks from apprentice to foreman to project manager, overseeing multiple projects and leading dozens of workers.
In 2018, I met Ashley Brinkley, a woman who reignited my spirit and reminded me that love and happiness were still possible. In August of 2019 I sold everything, accepted a new project management position, and moved four hours away to start fresh with Ashley. Life was finally coming together.
Then, in early 2020, COVID-19 changed everything. Like millions of others, I lost my job. But sitting at home wasn’t an option for me. I saw an opportunity, rolled up my sleeves, and started my own construction company. With everyone stuck at home, the demand for home improvement projects skyrocketed, and my business took off.
In 2022, Ashley and I welcomed our beautiful daughter into the world. Shortly after, she received an incredible job opportunity. But we had made a promise to each other: one of us would stay home to raise our daughter. I made the decision to downsize and eventually close my business to become a full-time stay-at-home dad.
Spending time with my daughter has been the most rewarding experience of my life. But as she grew, I found myself wanting to build something again—something I could operate from home, or anywhere with WiFi.
That’s when I discovered the power of automation tools and AI. What started as a few hours a day quickly turned into a thriving business. Before I knew it, I had dozens of clients and a simple, repeatable strategy that could work across many industries.
Now, besides manage my business, I help others build sustainable, scalable businesses from anywhere in the world. If you’re ready to create a business that gives you freedom, flexibility, and financial security, I invite you to check out SamTradeSchool.com. Your future starts today.
